Fairphone is a social enterprise that started with the goal of opening up the supply chain, understanding how products are made and creating a better connection between people and the things they own. Our hope was to create greater transparency and start serious discussions – we didn’t actually envision ourselves as consumer electronics producers when we began!
It started in 2010 as a project of Waag Society, Action Aid and Schrijf-Schrijf aimed at raising awareness about conflict minerals in electronics and the wars that the sourcing of these minerals is fueling in the DR Congo.

IMAGINE A WORLD where everyone has access to healthy, local, organic food. The goal of the Sharing Backyards program is to make that a reality by giving anyone who wants to grow food the yard space to do it.
Sharing Backyards encourages urban gardening by connecting those who have the space to garden with those who would like to garden but don’t have the yard space.
It connects neighbours of all kinds in an atmosphere of trust – doing something the beautifies the homewoner’s yard and provides fresh food. Garden partners share the cost of gardening supplies and the abundance of the crops.

Asylos was launched as an international network of researchers who act on request from our partner lawyers in Europe to substantiate asylum claims. The research is run exclusively by volunteers from around the globe. The founding principle of Asylos is a simple one: everyone with computer access and two hours per week can help make the legal system in Europe live up to its own standards. Our reports are tailor-made for individual cases. The researchers offer a variety of expertise, a combination of more than thirty languages and a fresh perspective to investigate missing information.
