Openspending

OpenSpending is about Mapping the Money. The aim is to help track every (public) government and corporate financial transaction across the world and present it in useful and engaging forms for everyone from a schoolchild to a data geek.

Booktype

Booktype is a free and open source oftware for authoring, collaborating, editing, and publishing books to PDF, ePub, .mobi, ODT and HTML formats. It was launched by Sourcefabric in February 2012 when Booktype evolved from the Booki software, which powers FLOSS Manuals.

Distributed Proofreaders

Distributed Proofreaders (commonly abbreviated as DP or PGDP) is a web-based project that supports the development of e-texts for Project Gutenberg by allowing many people to work together in proofreading drafts of e-texts for errors. By 2013, over 25,000 texts had been digitized.

Project Madurai

Project Madurai is an open and voluntary initiative to collect and publish free electronic editions of ancient tamil literary classics. This means either typing-in or scanning old books and archiving the text in one of the most readily accessible formats ("ETEXTS") for use on all popular computer platforms. All etexts will be distributed in both web/html and PDF formats.- Distributed through the World Wide Web servers , anyone located anywhere may download a copy for personal use or read what we publish on the internet, free of charge.

RepRap Project

The RepRap project is an initiative to develop a 3D printer that can print most of its own components. RepRap (short for replicating rapid prototyper) uses a variant of fused deposition modeling, an additive manufacturing technique. The project calls it Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) to avoid trademark issues around the "fused deposition modeling" term.

Wikimapia

Wikimapia is a multilingual open-content collaborative map, where anyone can create place tags and share their knowledge. The goal is to describe the whole world by compiling as much useful information about all geographical objects as possible, organize it and provide free access to our data for public domain.

Github

GitHub is a web-based hosting service for software development projects that use the Git revision control system. GitHub offers both paid plans for private repositories, and free accounts for open source projects. As of May 2011, GitHub was the most popular code repository site for open source projects.

Crowdcrafting

CrowdCrafting is a free, open-source crowd-sourcing and micro-tasking platform powered by the PyBossa software. This platform enables people to create and run projects that utilise online assistance in performing tasks that require human cognition such as image classification, transcription, geocoding and more. CrodCrafting is there to help researchers, civic hackers and developers to create projects where anyone around the world with some time, interest and an internet connection can contribute.

Free self-managed social networks: N-1 is one of the nodes of Lorea.org, a project that aims to create a distributed and federated organization of autonomous entities. We are developing social software for activist networks, we desire visibility but not to give up our privacy and security

Flossmanuals

The FLOSS Manuals (FM) is a non-profit foundation founded in 2006 and based in the Netherlands. The foundation is focused on the creation of quality documentation about how to use free software. Its web site is a wiki (previously using the TWiki software, now developed as an autonomous platform with Booki) focused on the collaborative authoring of manuals. The documentation is licensed under the GPL. Although initially the manuals were covered by the GFDL, the license was changed due to concerns about the limited and non-free nature of the GFDL
