Open Source comunity for resilient agriculture

By weaving open source permacultural and technological cycles together, we intend to provide basic human needs while being good stewards of the land, using resources sustainably, and pursuing right livelihood. With the gift of openly shared information, we can produce industrial products locally using open source design and digital fabrication. This frees us from the need to participate in the wasteful resource flows of the larger economy by letting us produce our own materials and components for the technologies we use.

Project Gutenberg is a volunteer effort to digitize and archive cultural works, to "encourage the creation and distribution of eBooks". It was founded in 1971 by Michael S. Hart and is the oldest digital library. Most of the items in its collection are the full texts of public domain books. The project tries to make these as free as possible, in long-lasting, open formats that can be used on almost any computer. As of March 2013, Project Gutenberg claimed over 42,000 items in its collection.

Open P2P Design was developed at the intersection of many different disciplines, processes and tools, in order to make it possible for a community to co-design a collaborative activity in which to participate together. The methodology takes concepts, processes and tools from Activity Theory (Psychology), Service Design, Social Network Analysis, Action Planning (Urbanism) in order to design an activity in a collaborative way: with Open P2P Design we can analyze, design or re-design an existing or a new activity taking into account both the community and the business that enable it.

WikiHouse is an open-source project for designing and building houses. It endeavors to democratize and simplify the construction of sustainable, resource-light dwellings. WikiHouse is being developed collaboratively by a small – but growing – community of people all around the world. There is no fixed design 'team' or 'studio', but a steadily growing community of designers from all disciplines who share in common the belief that developing freely available design solutions which are affordable, sustainable, and adaptive to differing needs is a worthwhile aim.

Open Source Robotics Foundation, Inc. (OSRF) is an independent non-profit organization founded by members of the global robotics community. The mission of OSRF is to support the development, distribution, and adoption of open source software for use in robotics research, education, and product development.

SourceForge is a web-based source code repository. It acts as a centralized location for software developers to control and manage free and open source software development. It was the first to offer this service for free to open source projects. The website runs a version of SourceForge Enterprise Edition, forked from the last open-source version available. As of May 2013, the SourceForge repository hosts more than 300,000 projects and has more than 3 million registered users, although not all are active.

Peer to Peer University (P2PU) is a nonprofit online open learning community which allows users to organize and participate in courses and study groups to learn about specific topics. Peer 2 Peer University was started in 2009 with funding from the Hewlett Foundation and the Shuttleworth Foundation, with its first of courses in September of that year. An example of the "edupunk" approach to education, P2PU charges no tuition and courses are not accredited.

Ubuntu is a Debian-based Linux operating system, with Unity as its default desktop environment (formerly GNOME). It is based on free software and named after the Southern African philosophy of ubuntu (literally, "human-ness"), which often is translated as "humanity towards others" or "the belief in a universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity".

Elgg is open source social networking software that provides individuals and organizations with the components needed to create an online social environment. It offers blogging, microblogging, file sharing, networking, groups and a number of other features.
