Indymedia or Independent Media Center

The Independent Media Center, also known as Indymedia, was the first open publishing platform in the world. Indymedia uses an open publishing and democratic media process that allows anybody to contribute. It originated during the Seattle anti-WTO protests worldwide in 1999 and remains closely associated with the global justice movement, which criticizes neo-liberalism and its associated institutions.

Wikidata

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that can be read and edited by humans and machines alike. It is for data what Wikimedia Commons is for media files: it centralizes access to and management of structured data, such as interwiki references and statistical information. Wikidata contains data in every language supported by the MediaWiki software. Wikidata is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation: a free, collaborative, multilingual, secondary database, collecting structured data to provide support for Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, the other Wikimedia projects, and well beyond that.

Rate Your Music

Rate Your Music (or RYM) is an online collaborative metadata database of musical and non-musical releases and films which can be cataloged, rated and reviewed by users. In RYM users rate and catalog releases, as well as write reviews, create lists and add artists and releases to the database.

Waze

Waze is a GPS-based geographical navigation application program for smartphones with GPS support and display screens which provides turn-by-turn information and user-submitted travel times and route details, downloading location-dependent information over the mobile telephone network.

FreedomBox

Freedom Box Project was inspired by Eben Moglen's vision of a small, cheap and simple computer that serves freedom in the home. It is building a Debian based platform for distributed applications. It aims to provide people privacy protection on a cheap plug server so everybody can have privacy and data can't be mined by governments, billionaires, thugs or even gossipy neighbors.

15Mpedia

15Mpedia is a free enciclopedia about the 15M movement knowledfe. Similar to wikipedia, it is build by many contributors and the generated content is free (with a Creative Commons By-Sa license)
