Freifunk

Freifunk (German for: "Free radio") is a non-commercial open Grassroots initiative to support free radio networks in the German region. Freifunk is part of the international movement for open wireless radio networks. The main goals of freifunk are to build a network that is decentralized, owned by those who run it and to support local communication. The initiative is based on the Picopeering Agreement. In this agreement participants agree upon a network that is free from discrimination, in the sense of net neutrality.

StencylForge

Stencyl is a game creation platform that allows users to create 2D video games for computers, mobile devices, and the web. The software is available for free, with select publishing options available for purchase. StencylForge is the repository for user-created (and team-created) resources. StencylForge hosts all of the following kinds of resources: graphics, sound effects, music, behaviors, example games, kits, etc.

Indymedia or Independent Media Center

The Independent Media Center, also known as Indymedia, was the first open publishing platform in the world. Indymedia uses an open publishing and democratic media process that allows anybody to contribute. It originated during the Seattle anti-WTO protests worldwide in 1999 and remains closely associated with the global justice movement, which criticizes neo-liberalism and its associated institutions.

Wikidata

Wikidata is a free knowledge base that can be read and edited by humans and machines alike. It is for data what Wikimedia Commons is for media files: it centralizes access to and management of structured data, such as interwiki references and statistical information. Wikidata contains data in every language supported by the MediaWiki software. Wikidata is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation: a free, collaborative, multilingual, secondary database, collecting structured data to provide support for Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, the other Wikimedia projects, and well beyond that.

Rate Your Music

Rate Your Music (or RYM) is an online collaborative metadata database of musical and non-musical releases and films which can be cataloged, rated and reviewed by users. In RYM users rate and catalog releases, as well as write reviews, create lists and add artists and releases to the database.

Chiemgauer

Chiemgauer is the name of a regional local currency started in 2003 in Prien am Chiemsee, Bavaria, Germany. It is named after the Chiemgau, a region around the Chiemsee. FreedomBox

Freedom Box Project was inspired by Eben Moglen's vision of a small, cheap and simple computer that serves freedom in the home. It is building a Debian based platform for distributed applications. It aims to provide people privacy protection on a cheap plug server so everybody can have privacy and data can't be mined by governments, billionaires, thugs or even gossipy neighbors.
