nolotiro.org

nolotiro.org is a website where people give free gifts and seek for second hand furniture, chairs, sofas, bicycles, laptops, tables, stoves, lamps, beds, clothes, toys, baby cribs or cars, mobile phones and other any things you no longer want and do not need, so people who may need them can reuse them and give them a new life.

Netsukuku

The Netsukuku project is based on the very simple idea of exploiting the great potentiality of the wifi connectivity, making the PCs of wireless communities act as routers and handle together an ad-hoc network even bigger than the Internet. Netsukuku is an ad-hoc network system designed to handle massive numbers of nodes with minimal consumption of CPU and memory resources. It can be used to build a world-wide distributed, fault-tolerant, anonymous, and censorship-immune network, fully independent from the Internet.

Freecycle Network

The Freecycle Network is a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by local volunteers.

Commotion

Commotion is a free, open-source communication tool that uses mobile phones, computers, and other wireless devices to create decentralized mesh networks. Commotion provides a way for you to share your Internet connection with the people around you, but it is not a replacement for your Internet connection.

One Laptop Per Child (OLPC)

OLPC's mission is to empower the world's poorest children through education. "We aim to provide each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop. To this end, we have designed hardware, content and software for collaborative, joyful, and self-empowered learning. With access to this type of tool, children are engaged in their own education, and learn, share, and create together. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future."

Transhumance

The goal of the Transhumance project is to devise a software platform to support the execution of collaborative applications in a mobile ad hoc network. The application designed to demonstrate the Transhumance platform is a pervasive collaborative treasure hunting game named “Team Exploration”

Wikihouse

WikiHouse is an open-source project for designing and building houses. It endeavors to democratize and simplify the construction of sustainable, resource-light dwellings. WikiHouse is being developed collaboratively by a small – but growing – community of people all around the world. There is no fixed design 'team' or 'studio', but a steadily growing community of designers from all disciplines who share in common the belief that developing freely available design solutions which are affordable, sustainable, and adaptive to differing needs is a worthwhile aim.

Open Structures (OS)

The OS (OpenStructures) project explores the possibility of a modular construction model where everyone designs for everyone on the basis of one shared geometrical grid. It initiates a kind of collaborative Meccano to which everybody can contribute parts, components and structures.
